Obtain or upgrade your FCC amateur radio license!

The Billerica Amateur Radio Society (BARS) is hosting a VE proctored amateur radio license exam starting at 7:00 PM at:

The Chelmsford Bible Church (previously Matthews Memorial Church)
128 Gorham Street (Route 3A)
East Chelmsford, MA 01824

Session fee is $15. All three FCC qualification tests are available (consecutive): technician, general, and extra.

If you plan on attending, here are some suggestions:

1. Bring the exam fee of $15.
2. Obtain an FCC FRN (federal registration number) before attending the exam. Bring your FRN number to the exam. You can obtain one here: FCC FRN Registraion
3. Bring several #2 pencils and a pen.
4. Bring a non-programmable calculator. There must be nothing stored in memory.
5. Optional: Study but don’t stress out. The tests are multiple choice. They are not difficult if you spend some time running practice tests using one of the online practice exams. Consider reviewing one of the many ARRL study guides. You’ll be a lot less stressed on exam day and you will have a much greater chance at passing the first time. Perhaps, you’ll pass all three license class exams…

If you have passed the amateur radio license exam(s), the subsequently issued FCC license (known in the HAM community as a ticket) will be valid for ten years. Upon completion of the exam, you should receive an FCC license grant in a couple of weeks.

As an additional incentive, if you take your exams with BARS, they will sponsor your club membership for a year as well.
